AP loses Tax income to Telangana

The residuary state is already running with lack of Budget and now the mistake of officials caused loss of 736 Crores to Andhra Pradesh .The tax amount for May month (2014) for the undivided Andhra Pradesh was set on population basis. According to that 58% should go to Andhra Pradesh and remaining 42% should be given to Telangana accordingly.

However due to the mistake by officials about 2382 crores went to Telangana state treasury and AP's treasury was deposited with 1584 crores. While it should have been 2320 crores for Andhra and 1680 for Telangana, a loss of 736 crores was incurred by Andhra Pradesh.

AP government has already sent notices to Telangana government over this issue but the issue is not going anywhere. AP officials say the issue will end if Telangana returns the amount lest they are planning to approach the central government for an amicable settlement.

This is one example of such problems between the two states due to bifurcation and official say such could repeat again too especially with regards to commercial taxes. There are few other problems between the two states regarding the commercial taxes too. The parties will decide on the Inter State Sales Tax between both the states in the meeting which will be held on Aug 12.
